Workers’ Compensation Group Active At NWCDN Fall Conference in Chicago

Several members of the Cousineau McGuire Workers’ Compensation practice group were active at the recent National Workers’ Compensation Defense Network (NWCDN) Fall Conference in Chicago on September 25, 2014.

Shareholder Thomas Kieselbach served as moderator during a morning session workshop called “Predicting the Future (It Is Not So Far Fetched After All)”. This session dealt with how to best utilize big data and predictive modeling to drive actions and affect workers’ compensation claims management.

Whitney Teel spoke on a morning panel titled “Practical Tips and Strategies for Settling Claims Involving Medicare”. This panel discussed different options for creatively dealing with Medicare issues in workers’ compensation claims and settlements.

During the afternoon session, Shareholder Thomas Coleman participated on a panel called “Creative Settlements”. Coleman served as the Minnesota representative, along with NWCDN members from other states, to discuss state specific guidance for claims resolution and global settlements.

The NWCDN is a nationwide and Canadian network of independent, AV rated law firms organized to network to their clients’ benefit by providing counsel, advice, education, expertise and representation of the highest quality to their respective clients in the field of workers’ compensation and related employer liability needs.
